Technical Difficulties

posted on May.25, 2010

The Listen Live stream may currently be experiencing technical difficulties. Please bear with us as we sort this problem out.

Update (6/11): We are trying to get a definitive solution out of IT. Optimistically, the stream could be back online next week. To reiterate, the problem exists on our end, not with our streaming provider. A change to the school network effectively cut off communication between the station and Abacast.

Update 2 (6/14): We are up and running again. Thank you for bearing with us.

WTSR should invest in a more user friendly streaming experience for its listeners. The technology being used now is NOT Mac friendly and makes obtaining a stream in iTunes a headache. If WTSR spent a little more time working on making the stream work consistently and regularly I think you would eventually have a better shot at increasing your listener base.

I can never get TSR on my radio at home even though I live nearby. I rely on the webcast stream to listen to my favorite programs. It is a shame that this problem continually hits WTSR for so long. It seems that the issue has been plaguing the station since they have first started to stream audio.

If the station is not going to live stream, then PUT THE NOTICE ON THE WEBSITE.

I keep coming back to the site, hoping that I can get the broadcast, but this is just inconsiderate of the station.

PUT AN UPDATE ON THE WEBSITE.. AN HONEST UPDATE!!

Ditto to Lita’s comments…the station comments on top of the website that it MAY not be available poor…either you know it is working or not and it should be indicated as such. I’m sure that you are disappointing many, like Lita, Barry & myself, with this interruption. Please get it working. Thanks.

    Hey guys,

WTSR is primarily a student run radio station. Many of the students in charge help with the programming, not the technology or the problems that may arise. Due to new technology that began running this summer at the station, our webcasting is essentially blocked. We have people at the college and at the station working to fix the problem. Please bear with us. Webcasting should be fixed latest by the end of this week.

The notification on the home page was to inform you webcasting is down. A similar notification will be posted when webcasting returns. Sorry for the inconvenience, but listener support would be wonderful right now. Thanks guys!

    Program Director,

Thanks very much for the explanation. Your problems are now better understood and appreciated. As with many things in today’s world, a better understanding through a note like yours goes a long way in helping your listeners empathize. Good luck with resolving the problem and update us once it is done. You have some good programming available and we all want to share in it.Thanks again.

I’ve been listening to the oldies programs on Sundays since WTSR started to stream. I can only rely on the stream since I live in Northern NJ & can’t receive the station over the air. I miss the shows & I know that I speak for others that listen on the web. I hope these technical difficulties will be solved as soon as possible so everyone who listens on the web can enjoy the fine programming on WTSR!

    Thanks!

Get this technical problem fixed so that we can listen to Joe Accardi and Mike Piazza. Why don’t you justfind someone who knows what they are doing so that we can listen to the oldies.
