This is the first stage in an expansion of the current functionality of the website. Over the coming months, WTSR plans on becoming a place to get music news, new music, and (as always) an awesome radio station. In an interview with Rolling Stone, Bon Iver announced the release of a new album, scheduled for release in June. This will be his second album, after 2007′s For Emma, Forever Ago. Justin Vernon, Bon Iver frontman, said that the new album will contain 10 tracks, including “Perth” (which he said sounds like “a Civil War-sounding heavy metal song”, “Minnesota Wisconsin”, and album closer “Beth/Rest”. Radiohead has announced that it will release a “universal newspaper” called The Universal Sigh to promote the physical release of their 8th album The King of Limbs. This free newspaper will be distributed in a number of locations worldwide. Details about the newspaper can be found on its official website.
The official participants in Record Store Day 2011 (which is on April 16 this year) have been announced. The official PDF of participating bands can be found here. Record Store Day, which started in 2007, is meant to promote local record stores by providing them with exclusive releases. [via We Listen For You]
Tyler, the Creator, member of Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All, a west-coast rap collective who have been recently gaining traction in the indie world, has announced the tracklist for his second album entitled Goblin. The tracklist can be viewed over at Pitchfork. In addition, watch Tyler and OFWGKTA member Hodgy Beats freestyle during their time at SXSW.
