The Shins – “Simple Song”

The Shins, an indie rock group from Portland Oregon, are perhaps best known for the role of their 2001 single “New Slang” in the independent film Garden State. The quintet will be releasing their fourth studio album, Port of Morrow, on March 20, 2012. The new single is the first song released by the band since their third LP in 2007. This Sunday night on “In the Air Tonight” with Pat Lavery, if you’re not tuned in to the action on the field, tune to 91.3 FM for a celebration of halftime entertainment through the years! We’ll highlight 20 artists from the 80′s who’ve been on the biggest stage of all, using many of the original songs they performed. It all gets underway at 9 p.m. with a special block of hits by Madonna, this year’s featured artist, and continues with acts like U2, Prince, Tom Petty…and yes, even Janet Jackson. That’s “In the Air Tonight,” Sunday night on WTSR. And don’t forget next week either, with a special Valentine’s Day edition!

M.I.A. has just dropped a (kind of) new track. “Bad Girls”, a demo version of which appeared on M.I.A.’s Vicki Leekx mixtape, is the first single from her fourth full-length, which is rumored to be released this summer.

Water Knot – “Big Brother”

Water Knot is an unsigned alternative/pop/rock band that followed me on Twitter, so I checked out their Facebook and downloaded their free new track, Big Brother. Something about them reminded me of Muse, which is a good thing in my opinion. Give the song a listen and check them out!
