Tune in for Special Upcoming “In the Air Tonight” Shows!
posted on Aug.10, 2012
In August, “In the Air Tonight” explores two sides of 80′s music: the heard and the unheard. On August 12th (special 6 to 8 p.m., Internet-only show) and August 19th, we’ll get into some album tracks and deep cuts from 80′s bands and artists. They might be B-sides, outtakes, rarities, or songs that actually got some radio airplay…but nothing that was released as a single. Then on August 26th, it’s a new year on campus and for “In the Air Tonight,” so it’s back to the hits and some of the most popular and best-loved songs that hit the charts from 1980 to 1989. That’s 6 to 8 p.m. ONLY on wtsr.org for August 12th, and over-the-air as well as online in our regular time slot, Sunday nights 9 to 11 p.m. on the 19th and 26th. Open your mind!

Album Review: Passion Pit- Gossamer
posted on Jul.23, 2012
Passion Pit
“Gossamer”
Hailing From: Cambridge, Massachusetts
Release Number: 2nd
Genre: Dance Electropop
Label: Columbia/Frenchkiss Records
It’s been three years since Passion Pit released their highly acclaimed, full length debut Manners. Their tracks were used in everything from cell phone commercials to television shows. Now they are back with Gossamer, a slightly more mature and sadder take on the same style its predecessor embodied. It is these qualities which, although they bring the overall feel in a slightly different direction, make Gossamer the stronger album of the two. In fact, a look into lead singer Michael Angelakos’ life makes their accomplishment with their sophomore album that much more impressive.
